Unsure how to remove a Wrangler soft top? Whether you’re looking to cruise through Niantic in your Jeep Wrangler in the open air or you want to replace the current top with a hard top, follow these steps from Old Saybrook Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram to remove a Wrangler soft top!
Steps to Remove a Wrangler Soft Top
- Remove the rear window: Unclip the sun visors to reveal the header latches and release them. Remove the sail panels and rear window retainers, and unzip the window completely. Store the window in a safe place so it won’t get scratched.
- Remove the quarter windows: Release the top and rear Velcro flaps and unzip the window. Once unzipped, release the door rail retainer and the body side retainer. Remove the window, and repeat on the other side of the Wrangler. Store the windows in a safe place so they won’t get scratched.
- Lower the top: Untuck the lower rear sail panel retainers and unhook the header latches. Lift the top back toward the rear of the vehicle. Fold the top in an accordion fold and rest the header on top of the back of the deck. Open the swing gate, release the side bows, slide the top back, and remove the side bows to lower the top.
